  • Although this technically is a new logo that I developed in late 2017 for a church’s young adult Bible study group there are elements present in the logo that originate all the way back to a previous logo I created in 2014 for the same church. I was just beginning to learn adobe illustrator at the time I created the previous logo. It was for a Bible study group that went by the name “thrive” that was aimed at youth. When I was asked to create a new logo over three and a half years later for a college group that went by the same name “thrive” I was excited to see what I could do now that I had more experience. One of the way in which I improved on the old logo was through utilizing two of its strongest elements in the new logo. The symbolic flame over the “i” is taken almost directly from the past logo with only some minor changes to make it fit the new font. Also taken from the previous logo, with some alterations, is the swooping path that leads the eye strategically around the design up to the “t”, which can be interpreted as a cross. The warm and cool color pallet against the stark black and white allows the new logo to be more bold, more balanced, and more adaptable than the older logo. As a result, comparatively the new “thrive” logo appears to be much more simplistic than the old logo making it easier to read and nicer to look at. This new logo is a clear representation of how much I have grown as an artist making it especially important to me.
